The Many Names of Resha Kate Tinley

My name is Resha Kate Tinley. People call me "Resha Kate." Sometimes they call me "Kate" or "Kate Kate." Occasionally someone will call me "Resha," but Mommy and Daddy never planned for that to happen. Daddy calls me "Reesee," a natural phonetic variation on "Resha." (The double es in Reesee are in honor of my Mommy, who is Ashlee with two es.)

Now, both "Resha" and "Reesee" are similar to "Reese's." Thus I have been called "Resha's Pieces," "Resha's Peanut Butter Cup," and "Resha's Puffs." (Reese's Puffs® is a cereal; I often see its commercials when I'm watching SpongeBob.) More commonly these chocolate-and-peanut-butter-inspired nicknames are shortened to "Pieces," "Peanut Butter," and "Puffs," respectively. I'm fond of these names (even though Reese's brand products are made by Hershey's and likely contain cocoa that was harvested by slaves).

Here's the rundown of names you can call me:

  • Resha Kate

  • Kate

  • Kate Kate

  • Reesee

  • Pieces

  • Peanut Butter

  • Puffs

Listen to Me Sing Christmas Songs

Listen to me singing "Away in a Manger" and "Jingle Bells":

Resha Christmas

I wasn't in the mood to record the other Christmas song I know, "You Never Rock Out." You know:

You never rock out,
You never not cry,
You never rock out,
I'm telling you why,
Santa Claus is coming to town

Also: Here's Meyer doing "Away in a Manger."

In Case You Were Wondering Why I Have a Black Eye on the Family Christmas Card

If you were going to receive a Christmas card from the Tinleys, one should have arrived in your mailbox this past week. (Apologies to those of you who didn't get one.) The card features the three photos that I've included in this post. You'll notice that in each picture I have a black eye. It's glaring. Obvious. Not subtle at all. (If you must, click on the images to see the full-size versions.)

Here's what happened: Days before the photo shoot, Meyer hit me in the face with the stethoscope from our Fisher Price medical kit. (I hope that Meyer at least sees the irony in his using a medical kit to inflict injury.) You should feel sorry for me—my wound has been immortalized on a Christmas card. But don't feel too sorry for me; I beat up on Malachi almost as often as Meyer beats up on me.

Mommy Smashed My Pumpkin

Here's a picture of me and my pumpkin—before Mommy smashed it. Sure, Mommy was carrying Malachi and Midge (one of the kitties) and hauling the big stroller when she tripped and knocked over my pumpkin, but that's no excuse. Fortunately, Meyer stuck up for me and gave Mommy the business.
